Micro Topping produces a continuous surface finish, each application is unique. It achieves a modern, artisan finish. The finish can be trowelled to an ultra-smooth finish or textured to give an urban old concrete effect.
Micro Top also called Micro Topping, Micro cement, Polished concrete
Micro top is a polymeric-cement system applied in multiple thin coats to a maximum of 3 mm depth
Micro top is applied by our trained, directly employed staff
Application of the micro top comprises of 3 separate layers Primer coat applied at 1.5 mm depth, a basecoat applied at a nominal 1mm depth then a finish coat applied at 0.5mm depth. In between each coat the floor is sanded and vacuumed ready to receive the following coat. Once the above has been completed a minimum of two sealer coats is applied. The sealer is available in Gloss, Satin or a Matt finish
This will depend on the existing surface to be covered –
Normal screed and concrete floors application 4-5 days
Marine Plywood /timber floors and existing tiled floors may require and additional preparation.
Plywood / timber floors generally a fibre glass matting to be installed over the joints to reduce possible cracking
Tiled floors may require an additional primer layer to remove the grout lines in the existing floor
Design Floors are unique in that we can provide most RAL colours, match Pantone and BS colour ranges. As we mix our own colours, Bespoke colours are available. By using differing colours on each layer of the system various looks and patterns can be achieved
